NSI 01 North Stradbroke Island
For those of you who don't know, North Stradbroke Island is just off the coast of Brisbane, Queensland's capital city. You cannot get there by car, you have to take a 50minute trip by the vehicular barge or a 20 minute trip by ferry. Once you get there you feel like you are in heaven.

I spent the day at Straddie on Saturday. There was a huge swell off the coast and my friends and I spent a very long time just watching the power of the ocean. There were some huge waves out there and it made for a spectacular show.
Sunrise on Home Beach, North Stradbroke Island. Arhh it doesn't get any better, not another soul around.
Deadman's Beach rock pools It's a great location for children to go exploring! tiny fish and little sea creatures can be found.
The bathing nets at Amity Point are a safe haven for those who want to take a dip as Amity is notorious for sharks.
Straddie - a wonderful place for family holidays and a spot of fishing.

With Vista's like this, is it any wonder "Straddie" is my favourite place. North Stradbroke Island is just a 45 minute trip on the vehicular ferry from Cleveland and you will be in heaven.

Ahhhh Straddie... Beautiful one day, perfect the next How lucky am i? for me its a 2 minute drive, a 40 minute trip on the vehicular ferry and I am in heaven. ps the sun was just coming up on the left of the shot...no one around, I had the entire beach all to myself.

NSI 34 From the Forest to the Sea
I love Amity Point, you have to walk though this gorgeous forest to get the beach just to the right in this image. It truly is a beautiful part of the world.

Reflections on Blue Lake - I got there early and had the entire lake to myself, it was stunning and oh so quiet.
Taken at Flinder's Beach on beautiful North Stradbroke Island. For those of you who don't know, North Stradbroke Island is just off the coast of Brisbane, Queensland's capital city. You cannot get there by car, you have to take a 50minute trip by the vehicular barge or a 20 minute trip by ferry. Once you get there you feel like you are in heaven. On this particular beach there is a small waterway running parallel to the beach. The reason it is this colour is because tannin is exuded from the leaves, dropped from surrounding Paperbark Melaleuca and Ti-trees Leptospermum, staining the water to a rich brown colour not dissimilar to that of tea.
NSI 23 If Only This Boat Could Talk
If only this boat could talk... can you imagine the stories it could tell...it looks very weathered, it has barnacles all over it, there is moss growing on it, it looks like its had lots of coats of paint. I wonder where it has been, who has been in it, how many fish has it helped to catch?? so many many stories... if only it could talk! A very different part of North Stradbroke Island Forming part of the Naree Budjong Djara National Park, Eighteen Mile Swamp is a shallow, groundwater fed, freshwater coastal wetland stretching almost the entire length of the eastern side of the island. It is the largest of its kind in the world extending to Swan Bay in the south of the island: covers approximately 30km₂.
